Day 03: Manali – Tandi (129 Kms)

Day 04: Tandi – Sarchu (114 Kms)

Post breakfast we check out from the hotel and ride north on the Manali-Leh Highway. You get to see some of the most breath taking landscapes that the Western Himalayas can offer. The scenery gets more stark and barren as we climb up to the 16,500 ft high Baralacha La the second mountain pass on our journey. From the pass beautiful views of meadows and snow-capped mountains can be seen. By early evening we reach the small hamlet of Sarchu with set on a large plateau. Upon arrival in Sarchu we check into camp. Evening at leisure & overnight stay at the camp.

Day 05: Sarchu – Leh (255 Kms)

Leave for Leh by early morning, through Nakeela and Lachungla Pass 16,617 ft. Lunch at Pang. After Lunch drive to Leh passing through Sky Angchu Thang (Biggest and Highest Plateau on Earth on Stretch of 42 Kms), Tanglang La Pass 17,585ft and Indus Valley. Upon arrival in leh you’ll met by our representative and check in at our Hotel.

Day 06: Leh

Today is a well deserved rest day for the man and the machine. It is essential at this altitude to acclimatize.

Day 07: Leh - Khardung La (5602 M) - Nubra Valley (127 Kms)

Today is the day we all came on this ride - to be on Top of the World - the Khardung La (5602M)!!!

The initial smooth going track becomes tougher as we ascend, full of boulders and stones - but it is certainly worth the ride. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level. Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp / Hotel in Hunder for Overnight stay.

Day 08: Nubra Valley – Leh

After an early breakfast we check out from the Camp and drive to HUNDER where you have opportunity to ride on a bactrian camel (double humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snow capped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you come across sand dunes besides the road. Seen in isolation you could well be amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. It is indeed a strange sight since immediately on the left of the road are rocky mountains that characterize the Ladakhi landscape and in the distance can be seen snow-capped mountains. On the return stop at DISKIT which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Stroll around the bazaar observing the shops and local people going about their daily chores. Diskit is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley.

Later we drive back to Leh in the late afternoon via Khardungla Top. On arrival at Leh you will check in to your Hotel.

Day 09: Leh - Pangong Tso (140 Kms)

Today we head towards Pangong Lake. enroute visiting Shey Palace, The ancient capital of Ladakh &3 Idiots Rancho School & further 5 Kms Driving through a picturesque landscape we reach Thiksey an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village. Ascend the height of the world's third highest motorable pass Chang la over landslide prone area and wayward mountain streams deciding to change course at will. Upon arrival we check in at our camp / resort for overnight stay.

One of the toughest water crossings on this route is near the Lake - real challenge for man and machine! But once you get to the lake you will forget the tough ride, the maniacal streams and the cold...To find such a huge expanse of calm blue water at that altitude! It’s definitely worth the ride. The Pangong Tso (lake of great hollowness) is almost 130 Km long and 06 to 07 Km wide, extending east to west at a height of 14000 Ft.

Day 10: Pangong Tso – Leh

Today we will head back the same way to Leh. We'll make an early start and try to reach Leh by afternoon enroute visiting Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. We need a well deserved rest and an early night. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 11: Leh (Excursion to Lamayuru – 125 Kms / One Way)

Exactly the same formations of Land are visible as on the moon), Lamayuru is spectacularly located along the valley plain and surrounded by mountains on all sides. On your return drive to Leh you first visit the Alchi Gompa. The complex of temples located within the village is the most celebrated of Ladakh’s monasteries and dates back to the 11th century.
